Added a checksum option to bmi pingpong test to verify that bmi method is returning
valid data.  This uses the zlib adler32 function, which requires a configure check
and only gets enabled when zlib is present.  Also, this helps for detecting @*%& networks. :-)

reverse merge from HEAD.

reverse merge of changes to HEAD since branch.  Includes small file changes.

merge trunk updates down to small-file-branch.  Passes basic tests but needs
some double checking of pint-cached-config and sys-create conflicts.

Add --disable-thread-safety option to configure script for test tree.  This
is required for test harnesses that use gen-locks.h directly to build
correctly if main source tree used --disable-thread-safety.

Added security module to /test makefile.  Added 8 byte alignment within capability encode/decode as needed.

Borrow the --without-openssl flag to configure from top-level script.

Added a configure option --disable-openssl like Pete suggested both for toplevel
and test/configure that will prevent us from checking for the openssl libs/headers
even if they exist in the default paths..
Also fixed posix/sha1.c test program from doing any crypto stuff if configure says so.

Remove -lssl and -lcrypto from module.mk.in in tests.
Replaced with configure time checks for ssl similar to the top-level checks.
Again, thanks to Pete for spotting this error.

Merge posix-extensions-branch to HEAD
This branch implemented patches to the 2.6.16 kernel for the proposed POSIX I/O extensions and those patches are under
the patches subdirectory.
It also implements the PVFS2 specific hooks for these system calls.

Tools that may be of immediate use to the pvfs2 general audience is the pvfs2-lsplus utility in src/apps/admin
that should be noticeably faster than the pvfs2-ls utility if there are a lot of objects in a single directory.
Other features are left out by configure and are not even built if the kernels do not support those features
and callbacks.

Adding test programs for the posix openg/openfh extensions to the newly created test/posix
sub-directory.

regenerated config scripts after moving berkeley db checks

replaced zero-fill code in client io state machine with one that works.  We:

* zero the buffer according to the memory request
* do flow
* calculate return size:
 - check that the ub of the file request is within file data (not a hole or past eof) -> return_size = sizeof(filereq)
 - if that fails, search through retreived datafiles for offset > ub_file_req -> return_size = sizeof(filereq)
 - if that fails, get all the datafiles and search through them for offset > ub_file_req -> return_size = sizeof(filereq)
 - if that fails, calculate correct return size from file req and eof
  * while(next_contig_segment(file_req).ub < eof)
      return_size += sizeof(current_contig_segment(file_req))
    if(current_contig_segment(file_req).lb < eof)
      return_size += (eof - current_contig_segment(file_req).lb)

make tests build system leverage pvfs2-config to figure out what
libraries to use

Break the build process for the test subdirectory out into its own
configure and makefile setup.  Various tweaks along the way.  Some stuff
still needs to be streamlined.  It should work for both in tree and out of
tree builds without any special options to configure as long as you build
the main pvfs2 tree first.
